Who can use ILL?
ILL is a free service to all current FC students, faculty, and staff.
What is ILL?
ILL, interlibrary loan, is a service in which Hamilton Library borrows from another library. If you need a resource that we don’t have, we will attempt to get it from another library for you.
What can I get through ILL?
Books, journal or newspaper articles, audio-visual materials that Hamilton Library does not own. Books owned by the library but not currently available may also be requested through ILL.
How do I submit an ILL request?
Requests can be submitted using the ILL form.
How long will I have to wait to receive my ILL?
ILL requests are processed Monday through Friday. It may take anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks. Articles typically arrive within a few days, while books and other physical items may take a week or two.
How do I pick up my ILL?
When your requested item arrives, the library will notify you through email. Books can be picked up at Circulation during library hours. Articles are typically delivered by email for immediate download.
How long can I keep my ILL?
Lending time for an item through ILL will vary. Check the book strap on your item to find out the date to return. ILL items that are sent digitally, such as articles, should be downloaded as soon as you receive them; most ILL links are only active for a limited time. However, there is no return date for most digital ILLs if you download them and save to your personal computer.
How do I return my ILL?
Returnable items, such as books and videos, must be returned to Circulation by the date indicated on the book strap.
How do I renew my ILL?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you need to renew an item through ILL. Make the request a few days prior to the due date, so that the lending library has time to respond. There is no guarantee that a renewal will be granted by the lending library.
Is there a cost for ILL?
No, as long as materials are returned on time and in the condition they were received.
